Factors that can cause dry,
chapped lips:
§ Matte
lipsticks or long-wearing lip paints (especially in arid or cold climates).
§ Lip
plumper (contains irritants such as capsicum, menthol, menthoxypropanediol,
ginger, or mint oils, all of which cause irritation).
§ Deficiency
of Vitamin B2 (which in addition to chapping can cause persistent cracks in
skin at the sides of the mouth).
§ Deficiencies
of niacin or Vitamin B6 (can also cause persistent cracks along the side of the
mouth).
§ Yeast infections
§ Dehydration
There are many products to treat chapped lips:
WATER
It’s important to drink plenty of water during
the day to keep your body well hydrated. Try to start your day by drinking one
or two glasses of water before eating or drinking anything else.
ROSE PETALS
This
remedy will help your lips stay moisturized while also enhancing their
beautiful color.
Preparation: Wash a handful of rose petals
thoroughly in water. Soak the petals in milk for a few hours. Mash the rose
petals into a thick paste. Now, apply the paste on your dry lips two to three
times a day and every night before going to bed.
Preparation: First, rub a small
slice of cucumber across your dry lips gently so that the juice is applied well
over them. After, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash your lips with
water. Do this several times a day to help your lips heal faster.
Cucumber
will hydrate your lips and make them soft.
SUGAR Exfoliation
Sugar is
good to exfoliate the dead cells off your chapped lips. That will help to
restore their natural softness faster.
Preparation: First, mix two
teaspoons of sugar with one teaspoon of honey. Apply the paste to your lips and
let it sit for a few minutes. With your fingers, rub gently the mixture
around on your lips. Wash it off with lukewarm water.
